It is a free, non-judgmental, nurturing, and safe environment. Some love to listen and learn from other experiences. At the end, in support groups you can do what makes you comfortable, and not always you have to talk. As humans, we find comfort in the known and the familiar. We seek control developing patterns that become over time our mental filters through which we process everything mindlessly. It is just what we do and the lense we see the world through. However, nothing remain the same over time, our lives changes everyday, but our mental filters remain the same triggering dyfunctional thinking, irrational reactions and expectations, and at the end negative experiences. Some people grow together, others apart. You grow out of a relationship, a friendship, and anything else, but it doesn't have to be traumatic or mean that you are stuck. It doesn't mean that one of you is bad, it just mean that you are developing whether you like it or not. It forces you to answer mindfully the following:
1. Who am I? not who I was or want to be?
2. Is this important to me and worth working on it? No one is PERFECT.
3. If yes, does the other party feel the same?
4. What is to be learned from the past? What is to improve? And what compromise you can make without losing yourself?

People often feel entitled to have good days every day of the week, month, and year. So when they face a bad day or a stressful week, they catastrophise thinking it is only happening to them hoding on to the negative feelings and reinforcing bad experiences. Sometime their reaction to a bad day lingers farther then the challenging or stressful event they experienced. A bad day ends, but not the feelings associated with it. It is much more helpful and positive to accept that we are not entitled to always have good and easy days, and that it is ok to have bad or difficult days. Learn to be mindful of your reactions and the negative thoughts that supports them, and accept that "it is ok not to be ok for now"…💙💜🩵

It was and still is an enlightening and humbling experience to work with people who face trauma every day. In collaboration with The Workplace Trauma Center in the USA, I had the privilege to provide online workshops to an outstanding group of Syrian counselors, who are first responders in camps for victims of the tragic Turkish/Syrian earthquake that claimed the lives of thousand of people leaving devastating pain and grief for those that survived the loved ones. I admire each one of you for your courage to be there for the victims, even when resources are lacking, and relief might be a long way to come.
